Motorola has announced that it is joining forces with the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative, an industry group created to help speed commercial development and ensure interoperability of next-generation LTE mobile broadband networks. The group also includes Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, Nokia, Nortel, and others. Motorola will be bringing its knowledge of WiMAX research and history of cellular networking to the group.
Motorola will also be joining other vendors in the LTE trials that Verizon Wireless and Vodafone are conducting throughout 2008, in addition to running its own field tests.
